Just one song, I mean is it really haram?~*~ The Noble Qur'an - Luqman 31:6 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-Fire). Ibn Masood (ra) said about this verse "I swear by the One other than Whom there is no God that it refers to singing [ghinaa].", and he repeated this three times. Ibn Abbaas (ra) said it refered to 'singing and the like' while Jaabir (ra) is reported to view its meaning to signify singing and listening to songs. Many taabi'oon such as Mujaahid, Ikrimah, Mak-hool and Umar ibn Shu'ayb viewed it as a censure of music and song. Hadith - Bukhari (#787) [Also related by Tabari] Sa'id ibn Jbayr reported that Ibn 'Abbas said about the verse: "And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks" (31:6), that, "ldle talks means singing and the like." ~*~ The Noble Qur'an - Al-Isra 17:64 "And Istafiz [literally means: befool them gradually] those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and other call for Allah's disobedience)..." ~*~ Hadith - Bukhari 7:494 Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari that he heard the Prophet saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks, and the use of musical instruments as lawful. And (from them), there will be some who will stay near the side of a mountain, and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and Allah will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection." ~*~ The Noble Qur'an - An-Najm 53:57-62 The Day of Resurrection draws near, None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). Do you then wonder at this recital (the Qur'an)? And you laugh at it and weep not, Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ‘Ikrimah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: it was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas that al-sumood [verbal noun from saamidoon, translated here as “Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing)”] means “singing”, in the dialect of Himyar; it might be said “Ismidi lanaa” [‘sing for us’ – from the same root as saamidoon/sumood] meaning “ghaniy” [sing]. And he said (may Allaah have mercy on him): When they [the kuffaar] heard the Qur’aan, they would sing, then this aayah was revealed.
Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Allah says (interpretation of the meaning) “Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing)” – Sufyaan al-Thawri said, narrating from his father from Ibn ‘Abbaas: (this means) singing. This is Yemeni (dialect): ismad lana means ghan lana [sing to us]. This was also the view of ‘Ikrimah. (Tafseer Ibn Katheer).

A man cannot have the love of Music n the love of the Qur’an, in the same heart. Only one can be present. One must enter, n the other must leave.- Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah)

Distressed And Fustrated?? Why not recite the Qur'an??
The more you recite it..the more you become relieved. Subhan Allah ♥ ❝ Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allâh, Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest.❞ [Ar-Ra'd, 28] •►Why not do something that would add up to the reward in your book of good deeds ?
Do you really think Music will calm you down?? Mufti menk said,•► "You don't need to be Muslim to know that music is bad for you. Just look at the lives of every celebrity with a large following. Look at the mess they're in, look at their lives, their dress code, and the way they move. Ask yourself, is that clean? Is it pure?"

Qs. I listen to a lot of hip hop and watch MTV. I cant seem to focus on getting closer to God. What's your advice?Ans. Stop watching MTV and don't listen to hip hop, that's probably a good start. I don't have bias against any particular kind of culture or genre of musuc but I will show you what I'm convinced of. I think nowadays music is probably one of the easiest things to lose your moral sense. Music is audio pornography today, thats what it is. Its explicit, its shameless, its vulgar, it takes your sense of humanity away from you., it makes you look at women as objects...worse than objects...worse than animals. These people are talking about women like they are talking about you know ..an animal ...really!!! Specially I've noticed a lot of young man I know are Muslims are memorizing the hip hop songs and its just horrible horrible language. You know, the only simple response I have to that is , if you had any regards for the book of Allah even the name, the mention, the word for something bad is terrible once you have faith. You have to have a clean tongue. "Tell my slave to say that that which is the best". Say god things from your mouth. So this is the first thing. When you say horrible things and you say things that are in direct contradiction to the word allah gifted us with then obviously you are deviating frrom your natural FITRAH, your predisposition to turn to Allah ...and when you constantly listen to garbage like that then you get deviated and you dont find pleasure except in disobedience to Allah and thats the sign of a sick heart, so one has to distance himself from this...thats the FIRST step. and I tell you this is my personal measure, its not a fatwa, its my personal analysis... you don't have to take it. But if a person finds listening to the Quran annoying after they 've listened to hip hop and this and that for a long time and as soon as somebody puts the Quran on the CD you know what they say " turn it off man.....i wanna talk..." immediately they get a little annoyed when they hear the Quran , that actually means the shayteen have taken over them and they are constantly making waswaas to this person, because what do shayteen hate the most? THE QURAN!!... It hurst them so you know what they do because this peron has let the shayateen into his heart , they start pinching his heart when he hears Quran. When you try to give this person a reminder from Allah's word , they get annoyed by it, agitated, like an allergic reaction...why? because they let the shayateen IN. To kick them OUT, what you have to do is stop supplying them with fuel. This is fuel...the useless wasting of time ...this is fuel for shayateen.... They love that you waste time ..and whats this music, TV, youtube, facebook, mysapce, twitter etc. if you spending hrs and hrs on this stuff , what is it except wasting time, May Allah give you the strength to stay away from these temptations and my advice that I keep giving over and over again is "FIND BETTER FRIENDS" , find company that is not into these things and try to spend more time with them and inshaAllah you will wean yourself off of these habits.
