"Help you one another in Al-Birr and Taqwa; but do not help one another in sin and transgression." [Al Qur'an 5:2] “Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward.” [Sunan Tirmidhi]
“May Allah brighten the face of the person who hears what I say and retains it, then conveys it to others...” (Ahmad and Tirmidhi)
“Convey from me, even if it is only one verse.” (Saheeh Al Bukhari)
“A person who revives even a single Sunnah, will be raised as 70 martyrs on the Day of Judgment”
These are just some of the many reasons that’s prompted this thread Insha Allah we are hoping to revive 1 private and 1 public sunnah weekly. We hope that you will support us in spreading the beauty of Islam, as certainly the Spirit of Islam is in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW

Masha Allah, the beauty and precision of our Deen! How it takes care of every aspect of our lives.. i love how a simple thank you could become so meaningful. usually, when someone does something for us, we say thank you- but it seems so empty compared to 'May Allah reward you' Subhan Allah, how Allah teaches us to beseech reward for those who do a favor unto us. How He teaches us gratitude. Not only do we make a dua for the person who was generous to us, but we also make him happy that he helped us, and turn all the inconvenience that he might have gone through into a blessing. Prophet (pbuh) said: "The dearest words to Allah are four: Subhan Allah (Hallowed be Allah), Al Hamdulillah (praise be to Allah), Wa la ilaha illa Allah (there is no God but Allah), Allah-O-Akbar (God is the greatest)." [Narrated by Muslim]

25th march- 1st aprilPUBLIC SUNNAH: 1.Speak slowly and gently 2.Give pauses where required, smile n use your body language.. 3.Avoid using foul slang.. 4.Speak gud or keep silent... When someone wanted to talk to our beloved Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, he would turn toward him fully and face him directly. Aisha, Allah be pleased with her, states, 'When the Messenger, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, spoke it was clear and every listening person could understand (what he said).'Anas , May Allah be pleased with him, stated that, 'When the Prophet. May Allah bless him and grant him peace, would talk, he repeated it (that which he said) three times so that it could be understood.'
Jabir Ibn AbdAllah, May Allah be pleased with him, says, "After I accepted Islam, The Messenger of Allah, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, never prohibited me from attending his assemblies. Whenever he saw me he smiled."
To smile at a Muslim brother is charity. Smile and recieve the reward of Sadaqa. Narrated by Abu Musa Transmitted by Sahih BukhariSome people asked Allah's Apostle (Sal-allahu-aleihi-wassallam), "Whose Islam is the best? i.e. (Who is a very good Muslim)?" He replied, "One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands." Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it. (Mishkat) Allah's Messenger (Sal-allahu-aleihi-wassallam) said, "Do you know the thing which most commonly brings people into Paradise? It is fear of Allah and good character. Do you know what most commonly brings people into Hell? It is the two hollow things: the mouth and the private parts." On the Authority of Abu Hurairah. the Messenger of Allah said:“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good things or keep silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be courteous and generous to his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be courteous and generous to his [traveling] visitor.” [Recorded by Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]Umar once said, “The one who speaks a lot commits a lot of mistakes. The one who makes lots of mistakes commits lots of sins. The one who commits lots of sins will have the Hell-fire as the first place for him.“

Week 25.3.11 - 1.4.11
Private Sunnah
Deed most loved by Allah: Offering prayer at earliest time
Narrated 'Abdullah: I asked the Prophet "Which deed is the dearest to Allah?" He replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times." I asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents" I again asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, 'To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's cause."
So the next time we hear the Azan, when we hear: Hayya ’ala ’ s-Sala Come to Prayer Hayya ala ’l-Falah Come to Success
Let us stop everything and answer Allah's call, insha Allah. Let us hasten to His Forgiveness and Mercy. To Success.

Establishing The Prayer
The first of his actions for which a servant of Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded; and if they are wanting, then he will have failed and lost. If there is something defective in his obligatory prayers, the Lord (The Glorified and the Exalted) will say: See if My servant has any optional prayers with which may be completed that which was defective in his obligatory prayers. Then the rest of his actions will be judged in like fashion. (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, an-Nasai, Ibn Majah and Ahmad). (Hadith Qudsi)
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: "Salah is a pillar of the religion (Islam). He who establishes it, establishes religion; and he who destroys it, destroys religion." [Tabrani]
Narrated Hadrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumu'a prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba." (Bukhari)
Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. (23:1-2)
And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours. These are indeed the inheritors. Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. (23:9-11)
Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord and for a garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth prepared for the righteous. (3:133)

Private Sunnah
Right before Left when wearing, Left before Right when removing
- First put on the right shoe, then the left. (Abu Dawood, Bukhari, Muslim)
When removing the shoes, first remove the left then the right. (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood)
- When putting on any garment, put on the right sleeve or leg first, then the left. (Tirmidhi; Chapter on clothing)
When removing any kurta, first remove the left sleeve of the kurta. In the same manner, when removing the trousers, first remove the left leg.
A'ishah(ra) reported that the Prophet (saw) loved to do everything starting with the right side - putting on shoes, walking, cleaning himself, and in all his affairs generally.
Public Sunnah
Sunnah of Greeting and Gatherings
1- To greet with Assalam u alaikum is one of the great Sunnats for a Muslim. Rasulullah SAW has laid a lot of emphasis on this. It increases love amongst people. Salaam should be made to every Muslim whether one knows him or not (Bukhari).
2- When joining any gathering, one should sit wherever a place is found. To make others stand up and to sit in their place is Makruh and a sin. (Bukhari, Muslim)
3- If there are three persons together, it is not permissible for two persons from amongst them to engage in any coversation separately without the third person being able to hear. the third person may become suspicious and feel hurt. To hurt the feelings of any Muslim is a great sin.

"As-Salaamu Alaikum" is the best Dua
The word 'salaam' comes from the root 'salema', which implies to disassociate oneself from evil and harm. Thus, when we greet other Muslims, the greeting means: "No harm shall come to you from me (may no evil come to you, may no harm come to you)
And since As-Salaam is also one of the Beautiful Names of Allah, the greeting of salaam also means, "May the blessing of His Name descend upon you, may Allah be with you, may Allah guide and protect you." Subhaan Allah! What a beautiful greeting!
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "The best of the two persons is the one who begins with salaam." (Related by an-Nawawi) "And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally."(Qur'an, An-Nisa 4:86)
BENEFITS OF "AS-SALAAMU ALAIKUM"
1."As-Salaamu Alaikum" is a means of immense reward A man passed by the Messenger of Allaah (SAW) while he was sitting with others, and said "As-salaamu 'alaykum." The Prophet (SAW) said, "[He will have] ten hasanaat." Another man passed by and said "As-Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullaah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allaah)." The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said, "[He will have] twenty hasanaat." Another man passed by and said "As-Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allaah and His blessings)." The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said, "[He will have] thirty hasanaat."
"The Prophet[pbuh] was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah ! When two persons meet with each other, who should take the lead in greeting the other? He answered: 'The one who is closest to Allah." (Tirmithi) The Prophet[pbuh] said:"The person closest to Allah is the one who precedes others in greeting." (Abu Dawud)
2."As-Salaamu Alaikum" is an aspect of Imaan[faith]
Once a man asked the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) about which aspect of Islam was best. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) replied: "Feeding the hungry, and saying salaam to those you know and those you don't know." (Bukhaari and Muslim)
3. "As-Salaamu Alaikum" is a means of entering Jannah
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you about something which, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread salaam (the greeting of peace) among you." (Muslim)
4. "As-Salaamu Alaikum" gets rid of sins
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) also said, "When two Muslims meet (give salaam), and shake hands, they are forgiven their sins before they part (with each other)." (Abu Dawud)
5. "As-Salaamu Alaikum" is the greeting of the people of Jannah
"Then, those that feared their Lord shall be driven in companies into Paradise. When they draw near its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them: "Salaamun 'Alaikum" (Peace be upon you), you have done well. Enter and live in it for ever." (Surah Zumar:73)
6. Even Allah says "As-Salaamu Alaikum"
Allah sends His Salaam upon the people who believe in Him, especially the prophets such as Nuh, Ibraheem, Ismaeel, Musa, etc.(Surah as- Saa ffaat) as well as other pious people.Jibreel came to house of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) and Khadeeja was there. Jibreel said: "Allah send s his salaam to Khadeeja." The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "O Khadeeja, Allah is sending His salaams to you." She said, "Allah is As-Salaam. And upon you O Jibreel, be as-salaam and upon you Rasulullah be as-salaam." [Bukhaari]
7.It is obligatory to return the greeting of "As-Salaamu Alaikum"
"The Muslim has five rights over his fellow-Muslim: he should return his salaams, visit him when he is sick, attend his funeral, accept his invitation, and pray for mercy for him [say "Yar ha'mu kallaah"] when he sneezes." (Bukhaari, Muslim)
(Greeting with salam is sunnah, but replying is fard)
We should say "As-Salaamu Alaikum" when we enter our homes "When you enter houses, greet (with peace) one another with a salutation from Allah, blessed and good. As such Allah makes clear to you His verses so that you understand." (Surah an-Nur: 61)
8."As-Salaamu Alaikum" is also to be said at time of leaving
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "When one of you joins a gathering, he should greet those present; and when he leaves them he should salute them, because the first salutation is not better than the last one." (Abu Dawud and Tirmidi) WARNING Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is not lawful for a Muslim to desert (stop talking to) his brother beyond three nights, the one turning one way and the other turning to the other way when they meet, the better of the two is one who is the first to greet the other.''[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Yet, it is utterly tragic to see that some of us have exchanged something so beautiful for something so mediocre, when we stopped saying Assalaamu Alaikum and started with 'Good Morning' or 'Hi'. It is especially sad to see some of our youth, who don't even know how to say the words clearly and properly. Some say ' Saa kum", some just mumble something incomprehensible under their breath and some don't even bother to say anything at all! And if they are being really nice to you, they just might throw you a 'hey' from afar. Even those of us who do say salaam, some of us are so stingy or hesitant in doing so. Although, at the time of the Prophet (SAW) the Sahaabah would compete with each other to see who could give salaam first. They would go to the market just to say salaam to people they knew and to the people they did not know. When it comes to the matters of Dunya[worldly], we strive our utmost to give our families and friends the best.
Yet when it comes to greetings, we forget the most beautiful and comprehensive greeting "As-Salaamu Alaikum", which is also a prayer....a prayer of peace and blessing...of security and protection from all harm and all evil.....a blessing that Allah Himself send s down to His beloved servants......a greeting of the people of Jannah[paradise] itself. Say "As-Salaamu Alaikum" and be wise Don't be shy or afraid and compromise! Insha Allah by greeting so in Jannah you will rise! Say "As-Salaamu Alaikum" and greet in the best possible way It will earn you reward and brighten your day Insha Allah it will lead you to Jannah where happily you will stay!

Masha Allah, its been a month now of trying to incorporate more and more Sunnah into our lives, the Sunnah whose beauty, simplicity and wholeness is incomparable. This week is going to be a review week. We're going to post the public and private Sunnah of the 4 weeks which have passed, checking up on ourselves if we are doing them all. After all, these are the things which we wish to adopt for a life long basis and make them not only part of our daily routine, but part of us. Week 1: 11.3.11 - 18.3.11Private- Wudhu before Sleeping Public- Smile Week 2: 18.3.11 - 25.3.11Private- Seeking repentance Public- Replacement of words Week 3: 25.3.11 - 1.4.11Private- Offering prayer at earliest time Public- Sunnahs of Speech Week 4: 1.4.11 - 8.4.11Private- Right before Left when wearing, Left before Right when removing Public- Sunnah of greeting and gatherings For details, refer to previous posts. This is your chance to catch up. By the way,
If you'd guys like to pitch in and mention any ways on how better to incorporate Sunnah in our lives, you're more than welcome to share.
For example, the Sunnah of waking up early. Even our clocks have reversed and seen us become night owls, rather than early risers. Prophet SAW used to pray to Allah SWT: “O Allah, bless my Ummah in its early hours”. And guess what, by sleeping and waking up late we are missing out on that blessing!
We have made our lives so distant from the ideal lifestyle of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, that sometimes we feel it isn't possible to get back and get better. But it is. Sometimes, we may feel that what we are doing is the new 'in' thing, its the thing to do, or its the way things run in the 21st century.. and well, Prophet SAW's life was all good and everything, but he lived ages ago, but we need only to remember this ayah:
And verily, you (O Muhammad ) are on an exalted standard of character. (64:4)
His way IS the best. His character IS the best. Allah SWT has stated in His Noble Quran, the Universal Quran, which transcends all time and ages- that verily, indeed Muhammad SAW is on an EXALTED standard of character.
Does any doubt remain??
Note: The next time we post a Sunnah- if you feel any Sunnah is related or should have also been mentioned in relation to the topic of the Sunnah- then do mention it. The more we follow the Sunnah, the more blessed our lives will be, Insha Allah.Love Sunnah. Live Sunnah. Insha Allah

Wake up!Perhaps the first and most important step to having a great morning routine is waking up early! And it is in that moment of indecisiveness – whether you should wake up immediately or enjoy your nice comfy bed for ‘5 more minutes’- wherein lies the secret to either a great day or a crazy one. Here’s a tip that always works with me for waking up: You know how shaytaan whispers in your ears “just sleep for 5 more minutes”… I simply whisper back to myself “just wake up for 5 minutes” Yup, you can imagine the rest. As soon as you’re awake and begin reciting the Adkhar and making wudhu, you can imagine what happens to sleep – (Gone! Left the building!). from www.productivemuslim.comAnd a youtube video related to the Sunnah of praying on time

Private Sunnah
Fulfilling the day's work
-- "0 Son of 'Adam! Perform four rak'a of prayer in the early part of the day, I shall take of you in all your affairs till the end of the day" (Tirmidhi)
-- Has he not been told of what was [revealed] in the scriptures of Musa and of Ibrahim who fulfilled [his covenant]? ... (53:37- 38) The meaning of wafa (fulfilled) in above verse, as reported in a hadith: "He fulfilled the day's work by starting it with the performance of four rak 'at [that is, salat ul ishraq]"
Public Sunnah
Humble, associating with one and all
-- He associated with one and all (He never thought of himself as more important that the next person.) He would also joke with people.
-- When he had to look at anything on his side, he would turn completely towards it. He never looked with side glance as the proud often do.
-- He used to keep his gaze down at all time. Due to excess of modesty he never looked at someone straight in the face.
